Have an opportunity to purchase a 70’s era 870TB. As is often the case wiry trap shooters, the stock has been messed with. The pad was removed, a wood extension was added and then a recoil pad was added. The question is if the stock was cut before the extension was added. So, I’m trying to find out the standard LOP of a 870TB. I’d like to know the length to the end of the pad as well as to the end of the wood.
Thanks,
JDG
870TB LOP?
Re: 870TB LOP?
The standard LOP on a Remington trap shotgun is 14 1/2".
But, that can vary from user to user depending on if they want a custom fit.
"Length or the shotgun length of pull is the measurement between the centre of the trigger and the centre of the butt. Typically, this will range anywhere from 14 1/4″ to 15 1/2″ for a gun designed to be used by an adult."
The other criteria you inquire about can vary depending on the pad thickness and other potential variations.

Re: 870TB LOP?
Not to be a butthead but is there a "rule" for LOP for a SxS with double triggers?
Re: 870TB LOP?
The factory stock specs on an 870TB in the 1970s, with recoil pad, were 14-3/8" LOP, 1-1/2" DAC, and 1-7/8" DAH.
What could have happened... did.
Re: 870TB LOP?
Thank you for the info. The TB I am looking at has a 13-3/8” LOP to the end of the original wood. The standard spacers and pad should be close 14-3/8. Now to find an original/period correct Remington pad and an original grip cap and screw.
