Engraved Sportsman 48 20 ga
Engraved Sportsman 48 20 ga
From my dad's estate. I have Sportsman 48 20 ga. Skeet grade that is highly engraved. Remington tells me they have no record of it being engraved by their custom shop. Anyone know who might have done the engraving? TIA

You didn't include much of the images of the wood.
If the wood is essentially "standard" grade (which it appears to be in that one partial picture of the fore end) and your father was in the military around the time of the Japanese occupation after WWII, it may have been a shotgun he bought at the PX and had a local engraver do the engraving.
This was a very common thing that was done back then. There have been a number of those circumstances described in the pages of this forum.

I'll take some pics of the wood and post. My Dad was stationed in England during the war. He loved trading and collecting guns. He most likely traded for this 20 ga.

That engraving pattern is very much taken from the Winchester 12-5 pattern for their Model 12 --

Thank you for the reply and photos of the Winchester engraving.
