Using Barrel code for manufacture date

I've been reading the numerous posts on trying to date the manufacture of Remington model 700 using the date code table using barrel codes. All seem to talk about at least three characters. I have just purchased a 700 and the barrel code is two digits RG. Does that indicate November 2012? If the last character is for assembly then the R is for year which makes it 1997. Need some help here. Serial is RR03111B which doesn't seem to indicate much if I read all the posts correctly. It came without iron sights which seems quite a waste.
