Model 1900
At the time they were being made the Damascus barrel guns cost about $5 more then the Remington Steel barrel guns. Seventy years or so of warnings about Damacsus barrels on the shell boxes of American ammunition manufacturers have made Damascus guns worth less. I'll have to disaggree with Jay. I see...

You are not giving us much to go on.
If you are talking about a hammerless double barrel shotgun marked Remington Arms Co. on the sides of the receiver, with a serial number of 125,950 then it is a Model 1894 made circa 1902. The Model 1894 was made in 10-, 12-, and 16-gauges in a variety of barrel lengths and in grades from A-Grade (t...

Remington Autoloading Gun or Model 11
Designed by the famous John M. Browning, "The Remington Autoloading Gun" was intorduced in the 1906 Remington Arms Co. catalogue. Around the time Remington Arms Company and Union Metalic Cartridge Company were combined in 1911, it became the Remington Model 11. There is a good article on t...

Model 1900
Jay is correct, from that serial number and your description it would appear you have a KD- or KED-Grade Remington Model 1900 made in 1901. The Remington Model 1900 was a cheaper version of the fine Remington Model 1894. Both Models were built on two patents issued on the same day, Oct 30, 1894 -- N...

Model 11? Sportsman?
"The Sportsman" was a three-shot version of the 5-shot Model 11. "The Sportsman" had a different magazine tube and forearm, and wasn't introduced until the early 1930s. There is not much demand out there for these old square-back Remingtons. Unless in a high grade or a Trap or Sk...

Remington Inventory Letter
I think the U in front of the serial number is a Remington inventory letter like the P in front of the serial numbers on Model 1894s, and the Q on Model 1900s.
Nice looking gun.

Remington Model 1894
If you can see a pattern it is real Damascus. No U.S. makers are known to have used a fake pattern. That only seems to have occured on the very cheapest of Belgian imports. On 98% of the Remington Model 1894s the chokes were not marked as such, but the pellet count for the test patterns fired at the...

Model 1889 Barrel Lengths
The Model 1889 is the only hammer double made by Remington Arms Co. All the earlier hammer doubles were made by E. Remington & Sons. In the October 1894 catalogue and the November 1895 catalogue the Model 1889 is offered in 10- and 12-gauges with 30- and 32-inch barrels. The next catalogue I hav...
