"East to take apart". Boy, you're handier than I am. Every year, after duck season I break down my matt rim gun that used to be my Dad's. Always have to get out direction for removing the bolt.

Re: Model 1100 Advice Please.
Small world. My Dad was a Remington Director about the same time.
I wouldn't concern myself with looking for a 3" 20 gauge. The pattern work Bob Brister did ("Shotgunning, the Art and the Science") pointed out that 3" 20 gauges patterned very poorly.

M700 Trigger
Took my M700 in to a shop which is a Remington authorized service center. Gun was built about 1973. I couldn't get the trigger pull below about 5#. The shop said "How about we put in a new trigger, adjust it to your specs (3.5#) while you wait, and charge you $15?" Apparently it may be som...

Re: 3200 4 barrel sets
The gun looks like any other M3200, except that it has a silver shield with my Dad's initials inlet in the toe of the stock. Wood is upgraded (funny how that happened with Directors' guns) The gun has basically no incremental value - Remington is unable to track anything unique about the gun (Believ...

Re: 3200 4 barrel sets
My Dad was a Director at Remington when the 3200 was introduced. He ordered a 3200 with two sets of barrels. It turned out that the gun was used as a prototype for the multiple barrel sets . That gun was on Remington's books for $300,000. Hard for Remington to make any money on the skeet sets if the...

M700 Trigger
I realize this is not a gunsmithing site, but can someone direct me to a good forum to discuss trying to lighten the trigger pull on a 70's era M700?
I have reviewed the various Youtube demonstrations, but backing out the trigger poundage screw seems to make no difference.
Thanks in advance

Re: Model 1100 Synthetic barrel failure
Grrr! I sent a request to Remington Customer Service a week ago regarding the recall of a M700. Got an automated response saying "Thanks - will get back to you shortly". A week has passed. Sent a second response. Nada. BTW, for better or worse, I pointed out to them that my dad had been a ...

Re: Model 1100 Synthetic barrel failure
I have an 11-87 which had the action bar sleeve made off center. The wall thickness was nearly paper thin on one side (unbeknownst to me) It failed to cycle, but took a long time to diagnose the problem.

Re: Mod 870 Stock Modification
Be careful when sanding the stock to fit. In gross terms, if the gap you are describing is 1/16", the stock is 1 1/2" top to bottom at the receiver, and is 14" long, you could raise the drop at heel by somewhere around 1/2".
